Description

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, beneath one of the richest lands on Earth, lies a mineral that powers the modern world and a human cost too often hidden from view.

The Shadow of Coltan is a powerful African graphic novel that takes readers into the human reality behind the global demand for coltan, a critical mineral used in modern technology.

Against a backdrop of conflict, exploitation, child labor, and the struggle for control of Congo’s mineral wealth, the story follows lives caught in a system where survival and profit collide. Through striking visual storytelling, The Shadow of Coltan brings attention to the people and communities whose suffering is too often invisible at the other end of the global supply chain.

Rooted in the realities of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, this story is more than a graphic novel. It is a call to see the human beings behind the minerals that connect Congo to the rest of the world and to confront the true price of the technology we use every day.
