Description

First published in 1894, The Gospel of Buddha arranged the ancient sources into a continuous, readable life and teaching — the book through which generations of Western readers first met Buddhism, translated even into Japanese for use in temples. This 1915 Open Court edition adds Olga Kopetzky’s remarkable Art Nouveau illustrations, reproduced here with the ornamental frontispiece. This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1915 Chicago (Open Court) edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
