Description
Charles F. Horne’s fifteen-volume Works of Jules Verne (Vincent Parke, New York 1911) was the great American deluxe Verne, printed on fine paper with painted frontispieces. Volume I opens the set with Five Weeks in a Balloon, the 1863 novel that made Verne famous : Dr Fergusson’s balloon crossing of Africa, from Zanzibar to Senegal. This facsimile reproduces copy No. 37 of the édition d’Amiens with its illuminated limitation leaf and frontispiece.This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1911 New York (Vincent Parke) edition, reproduced in full from a library copy. The historical text is reproduced without modification; only the format, margins and legibility have been reset for modern printing.
