The Source of Everything (standard version)

£15.00

The Source of Everything is a visually rich fantasy novel for readers who enjoy the deep themes and delicate world-building of Madline L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time, the cosmic swashbuckling of Disney’s Treasure Planet, the quiet wonder of Studio Ghibli, and the nostalgia of 80’s fantasy movies. This deluxe edition contains over 30 color illustrations and black and white illustrations on spacious 8×10 in pages, with decorated endpapers and chrome foiling on the cover. If you love sailing on seas of stars, muppet pirates, and wish Peter Pan would come whisk you off to Neverland, this one is for you.

Description

10-year-old Addie’s missing father is a wizard—or so her mother has always told her, despite the ridicule of her big brother, who doesn’t believe in “fairytales” anymore. A strong believer in magic, Addie fervently waits for her father to return—to remove her family from the struggles of poverty and bring them on a wild and magical adventure.

When her mother becomes deathly ill, Addie takes a risk and tries for the first time to cast a spell. And it works! Her father is summoned— and he’s a real wizard, ready to whisk her away to seek the fabled Source of Everything, where the cure for her mother’s sickness can be found. Piloting a fairy-winged pirate ship, the adventurers sail out into the World Ocean, a vast sea of stars where one can travel between universes. But an unsettling secret is lurking in the shadow of her father’s long absence. In her deepest heart, Addie dreads that the truth will destroy the comfortable, innocent world of magic she has protected herself with, and thrust her into a dark and unpredictable reality where magic, and the parents she’s always looked up to, may not be there to shield her.
