This collection is dedicated to my parents, who together formed the heart of our home—from Derby where I was born, to our return to Weymouth and Wyke where they grew up and I spent the happiest days of my childhood. To my father, Michael, whose prayers were as steady as the tide on the Fleet; and to my mother, Kate, who was then, and remains now, our anchor.
