Description
Home, they say, is where the heart is. For architects, the ideal home is often an aspiration. We are notorious for constantly tinkering with our design plans for our residences, and who can forget the Los Angeles Case Study houses. The mid 20th century ‘starchitects’ of their day – Le Corbusier and Lloyd Wright – were also inveterate home designers, and today the RIBA Home of the Year award graces the media on an annual basis. But what do we mean by home? Do we hark back to our childhood and the comfort of the domestic setting in which we were brought up? Or do we have plans and dreams of creating our own dream homes?
